to socialize with afternoon tea with a group of friends for my mental health and attitude.
I hosted my first ever virtual tea party with eight new and old friends.
It's difficult to describe what that did to lift my spirits.
From the beginning, with planning then preparation, my mood lifted.
Fortunately, several local friends were pleased to be included from their own homes, and daughter Melissa came to my house for the event. She was the photographer.

As I set the table, my thoughts went immediately to "what will the etiquette experts
say about all the electronic gadgets and wires on my table?"
My invitation indicated it was a "no frills" afternoon tea and that guests could bring a beverage and snack of their choice.
Below is the tea tray for Melissa and I. Both of us are gluten free, therefore
it was a simple fare.
Savories: Egg Salad, Pimiento Cheese, Olive Nut Cream Cheese finger sandwiches
using Trader Joe's gluten free bread and GF Sausage Balls.
Scones made from gluten free mixes served with Lemon Curd and Clotted Cream from Amazon
Top Tier: Gluten free Brownies and Pecan Bars from Whole Foods
I didn't have time to think of garnishes, but our interruption that day is an entirely different story.
The February virtual tea was hosted by two ladies in Houston
who had a tea society, but turned into an online group due to Covid-19.
I was pleased to be included.
I had two lemon scones from the freezer leftover from the January tea.
The guests were from many different states and countries.
We all had the love of tea in common. It was another fun event!
My laptop camera is is the lower left corner of the screen.
After trying different objects, the cake plate served as a "riser" of sorts for the laptop.
And, a quick announcement:
Thanks to my hubby, I seem to be back on track with blogging using current photos.
